You’ve probably seen enough blogs by now to think that this is something you can easily do. And once you realize the potential of finding thousands of people who will be nothing short of enamored with your life, thoughts and hobbies you are ready to give it a go. But its not always that simple. You need to know a lot before you jump on this train.
There is no fast and easy way to make a million dollars, or even a thousand, overnight. It takes time and effort and a lot of right decisions to become one of those full-time bloggers. It also takes a little luck and some talent. You might be a very engaging person, but few of us are able to bring our entire personality onto the page (even this writer as you now know.)
It is really lonely in the beginning. There are thousands and maybe millions of blogs out there and no one even knows yours exists. You work really hard at putting out great content, but then no one comes to read it at first. Give it time and that will change.
It wouldn’t hurt in the beginning to do a little marketing for your blog. Social bookmarking, articles, leaving comments and such take some labor, but its easier than just waiting around for people to find you. A little effort here in the beginning can save you months or years of dwelling in obscurity. You started a blog to get read right?
You need to keep learning constantly. You should learn three new things everyday about blogging, the internet, your chosen topic or topics and anything that can help you be a better blogger. It’s an ever changing world out here and you have to keep up or get left behind. You can’t say no one told you.
It may be harder than you thought to be a blogger, but if it is something you really want to do, don’t be afraid of a little elbow grease. There is always room at the top for more great blogs and great content. Dig your heels in, work hard, learn a lot and you will be a success story.
